I am a wife and mother of two children. In 2008 at the age of 47 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I took my cancer diagnosis as a wake-up call. I had vowed to do everything my doctors recommended as I had lost my own mother when she was only 41. I had surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy as well as lost 70 pounds.
Unfortunately, a second breast cancer diagnosis came far too quickly, only 1 1⁄2 years after treatment was complete. I quickly became consumed with fear and cancer was my focus of every waking moment. It was then during this second journey when I discovered the power of plant foods. For the first time in my life I heard the phrase “Let thy Food be thy Medicine”. My question is why doesn’t everyone have this knowledge? I quickly became very excited about the possibility of taking back control of my health and no longer living in fear. I decided I would no longer just rely on modern medicine and take back control of my health and my life. I would be a more active participant in my own health through a plant-based lifestyle. I live with the food for thought that “Every time I eat or drink, I am either feeding or fighting disease.” I am now Living Life and not just existing!
After going plant based in 2012, I became very passionate about spreading the word by educating others to take control of their health and feel empowered. I have been a certified health coach since November 2013. A holistic practitioner for The Healing Consciousness Foundation; empowering other survivors through private nutrition counseling as well as wellness and cooking classes.
I received a certification in plant-based nutrition through Cornell’s T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, Food for Life Instructor Certification through the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and currently enrolled in Rouxbe Culinary School for Plant-Based Professional Culinary Certification program.
Services offered in private and group settings are as follows: private plant-based nutrition counseling & mentoring, healthy plant-based cooking classes, Award winning Food for Life Program Group Classes as well as food store tours.
My passion and mission are to empower others to become more active participants in their health as well as becoming excited to live their best life.
